I have recently hired on with a contractor that likes building Log Homes. There are many *occasions where we cut out arched openings. We have been roughing out the opening with a chain saw. Next, we make a big to run the outer along, using a spiral bit to cut the curve. Finally the belt sander to finish out the rest.
The problem with this system is that it works on 10 inch logs, but the next job uses 12`s. We have even thought of using a bow saw to cut the curve. I sure would like to know what anyone else has done. Any info will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Woody
