Where are some good places to start looking for house plans? Just looking for ideas at this time. Are there any sites on the Internet? More interested in floor plans at this time than external appearance. Just interested in traditional styles for the central US.
Are there any places on the internet that walks one through a series of questions to narrow down the search? Knowing what questions to ask is half the battle.

Mike, any large grocery store/book store has lots of house plan magazines. Or the library. Or enter "house plans" into any search engine and explore. Search and ye shall find.
*MikeTri-steel.com, excalibursteel.com, metalhomes.com, michaelholigan.com, yournewhouse.com, builderonline.com.After buying a few plan books, you start to recognize a few of the same plans in every book.Another option is to locate a home design service in your area, sit down with them, give them your wants & needs & wish list, pay a small fee and get something that is custom for you.Vince
*Mike, a lot of the people here built their houses. Tell us what type and style house you want to build, size, # of floors and basement or not, size and location of lot, budget, what part of the country the house is located in, how much you're going to do yourself,(e.g., I contracted out all the foundation, framing, electric, plumbing, stucco and roof, but I did the floors, trim, doors, built-ins, appliances etc, basically all the interior but the drywall and the tile.) Give us enough info and I bet you get a lot of plans to look at. As well as the changes we'd make after living in the house for a few years.
*If you just want to puruse standard house plans, there are a number of them on the Internet, just go to a search engine such as http://www.google.comand search on "house plan", or if you want something more exotic use additional search terms such as "octagonal house plan".Here are a half dozen sites to get you started (I have never ordered anything from any of these sites, so can't help you there):http://www.homeplanfinder.com/http://eplans.com/http://www.coolhouseplans.com/http://www.floorplansearch.com/http://www.weinmaster.com/http://www.lauban.com/Happy hunting...
