Does anyone out there have a source for 36″ turned cherry legs. with large diameter and square top. My client needs a custom table with very little support. I will fabricate steel collar with plate to mount to square top. It will be fixed to floor. Something like a newel post but with a flat top. Web sites are preferable, if not I am in Brooklyn, New york.
Thanks.

Last I heard there was several million people in the greater New York area, you mean there isn't one of them that can turn you exactly what you want.
That would require him actually putting in some effort!!Mr T

I didnt know that Joe lived in NY, I knew he was somewhere east of the Mississippi, but if he doesnt do turnings I would bet my last dollar that he knows someone that could do it.

Great idea to check this out. https://glumber.com
For solid legs, Matthew Burak (http://www.tablelegs.com). If you want a diameter large enough that a hollow cylinder makes sense, you can get hardwood-veneered plywood cylinders from Anderson International (http://www.aitwood.com).
I will try. Thank-you.

Tried Van Dykes. Thanks. Not big enough.

Thanks to all for the Rockler and Van Dyke Hits. I am familiar with these sites.Their legs are too small, most are 29" or they are too narrow, 31/2". I am looking for something in the 6" range and 36" tall. I will try some of the other sites.
I've been looking for a reason to play with the new lathe duplicator. If you create a template of the profile you want and supply the wood, I will turn the legs.
I'm in Fairfield County CT. In NYC once a week.
Thank you very much. I think I've found a source. Still waiting, though ,for the client to pick a profile. If it falls through I'll drop you a line.

Have you looked in architectural salvage "yards"?
Next stop. They tend to charge top dollar around here 'cause its an "antique".
Too bad you don't live in Michigan--Grand Rapids, "the furniture capitol of the world" has several places that have warehouses full of table parts. If they didn't have your legs on hand, they could get them or make them. (not that Michigan is better than anywhere else :-)
At the risk of being helpful...
Our lumber yard has a about 50 Cherry balusters that a HO rejected in thier "bargain" bin.
Nice heavy ones (1"1/2 or 1"3/4 square part)
First thing I thought when I saw them (besides $$$$$) was "Table legs"
