Looking for some basic design Software
My wife and I are in the beginning stages of planning an addition and I am looking for reccommendations regarding relatively inexpensive and not overly technical design softward.
I am looking for something that I can use (I’m not familiar with CAD and have no experience with any design software) to basically get ideas and that will allow us to take a visual of the outside of our existing home and change it and monkey with it and explore ideas. We live in a split level and additions to these things are tough to pull off looking decent.
So basically something two homeowner but computer proficient types can play with to get some ideas together before we jump into the process.
Any ideas?
TIA

Since you're playing with looks rather than detailed plans, check out http://www.sketchup.com/
I had no CAD experience and did basic drawings of the interior and exterior details and floor plans using TurboCad and the floorplan software that came with it.
I would suggest a program such as Home Designer

With programs of this type you tell it the wall dimension. Put in doors and windows (and can select the style) and select the finishes.
Then you view the house in 3d.
