I had a hot water heater replaced about 2 years ago. Seems that ever since then, my cold water pressure is low, especially for the washing machine. Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this, or what I should check to determine the problem? The hot water heater may be just coincidental. Thanks, Dave Wagner.

Here's a very easy check before you get into more complicated problem solving.
Just in case you haven't, please check all coldwater outlets - the faucet screens/aerator.
And in the case of your washing machine, the screen on your inlet house. And be careful not to let anything get past the screen when you examine.
The water inlet solenoid does not like foreign matters.
There is a chance your screens are clogged or partially blocked with sediment/sand/loose scale, etc.
This also goes for showerheads.
Anyway, I went around in my in-law's house in California last year cleaning all the screens and amazed at the grit/sand/scale.
One bar counter sink faucet was particularily bad, with water spewing out sideways or sometimes hardly flowing. When I unscrewed the aerator and turned on the faucet a huge blob of sand and other junk came spewing out.
Huge difference in the water flow afterwards.
Same thing with showerheads.
You may need a small needle or pin to dislodge some granules.
Nice uniform spray with better force afterwards.....
Remember, these "watersaver" devices clog a lot easier.
Also, in my area in southwest Virginia, when the town back flushes their waterlines this can lead to long periods of clogged screens.
I'm planning on installing a in-line filter where the line enters the house.
