This has probably been asked 100 times, but here is #101.
I am an amateur furniture/cabinet maker. I have occasional need for an air compressor and 18 ga. brad/stapler for cabinet backs, etc. For the past 17 months I have been building kitchen and other cabinets for my home, along with many other improvements done by a real pro. One of the improvements was to have all the oak hardwood floors refinished and to add new oak floors where none previously existed. Now that the floors are complete, I see a need to replace the cheap, painted pine baseboard and shoe molding with oak (which I will mill myself).
Question: What would a pro recommend as a compressor and brad nailer for under $200 that would meet my needs, especially the molding?
Replies
A Paslode Impulse trim nailer and forget the air compressor.
rez, that was my reccommendation right up until that $200 bit
Ya well, either way would work for occasional use.
Always thinking it better to go with quality and function if price spans aren't exhorbant.
The Impulses are quick and easy.
I agree, Think I own every Impulse gun they make now
Have the pneumatics also, but being an small remodeler, those don't come out much.
Me likka the Impulses

The cheapest one I've seen is the Porter-CAble combo kits that include a pancake compressor and a brad nailer or stapler. I think they run for $200 (?) at the home depot. Decent enough to get the job done, then you can upgrade the gun later, and the tank after that if need be.

Thanks to all. The Paslode looks good, but I think I can find other uses for an air compressor, so I am going with the Porter Cable.
Wow, how did you use my handle? Can we just have multiple people use the same screen name?! DanT

Greetings DanT,
You probably are unaware that a longtime poster here on Breaktime has been using the same DanT screen name as you have chosen.
In order to prevent possible confusion in the future, would it be possible for you to pick a different screen name of your choice and use it instead when posting?
That would help keep things running in a more orderly fashion.
Appreciate you, and Welcome to Breaktime.
Psst, he doesn't have his profile filled out either
