You should do a search. I recall that Toto has been highly recommended, but there were others that were well-liked also.
American Standard "Champion" series is excellent.
A La Carte Government funding... the real democracy.
Toto's pretty scarce around me, so I've used several American Standard EL Cadet and have been very happy with them. Pretty much one flush does the job. Quiet. And cheap. Did I say cheap? AND they work well? They got the highest rating from that Canadian outfit that tests flushing.
The only problem I ever had with 'em is that the guts on one were mounted a bit cockeyed in one of 'em so the float hung up on the overflow, but that only required loosening the mounting nut and giving the unit a twist so it cleared. No problems since.

Everything fits, until you put glue on it.
I ended up putting a low flow flapper in mine. Works great and is adjustable.

Who makes that? How does it work... ? .... flapper drops sooner to save water?

Once you have it installed you just dial in how much water you need to flush.
I have mine cranked all the way to water saving. My wife has hers all the way to completely emptying the tank. "There are three kinds of men: The one that learns by reading, the few who learn by observation and the rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves."Will Rogers
I honestly can't stand them, especially after some serious business.
I imagine there may be some high dollar ones that might work better, but it always seems its a 2,3 flush deal with them.

Spending more money does not insure success.
My wife picked out a one piece Kohler, based on looks. We call it the #1 toilet.
#2 has about a 50/50 chance of actually going down.
Bought/installed American Standard Cadet 3 a few weeks ago. Did some research and found two issues - 1) Unlike Toto, seems to be a high amount of defects needing returned, and 2) flapper goes bad pretty early, replace with Korky, readily available. Other than that, a great flushing machine, many say.
Picked one up at Lowes - white, regular, not elongated - for about a hundred bucks. The fit and finish was fine, works great.

Here's where to look:

The appendix tables by manufacturer (smaller file than full report) are a great guide to performance. We have 2 Totos, a Drake and an Ultimate. The Ultimate will clog if I look at it funny. Have to remember to hold down the handle until it glugs on "big jobs." Haven't had any problems with the Drake. May one day replace the Power Gravity mechanism in the Ultimate w/ the G-Max that's the same as the Drake (technically making the 'Ultimate' into an 'Ultramax').
Installed a Gerber Viper in my new bathroom back in January, havent plugged it yet. Has jets all the way around the rim so the bowl cleans well also.
Saw lots of them when I worked in Finland in 1986.
The current issue of Consumer Reports has an article that's quite good on low flow toilets. Not all the Toto's did well, if I remember correctly.
Two years ago I had to have the main toilet replaced due to a crack in the tank. The plumber replaced it with a "Mansfield." I figured this is a "plumbers" brand. The plumber said he has one in his house, he lives up the street from me. I use one flush for the normal and hold down the handle longer for larger deposits. I've been happy with the results.
We have Caroma made in Austrailia. A little pricey but Never a clog in 5 years. I think you could flush a cat.
Today, I was reading the latest issue of "Consumer Reports." They rated toilets among many other things including TVs. (knowing the sense of humor among the members of this board, I know you'll have fun with my wording.) The Mansfield Alto 137-160, single flush, priced at $150.00 is one of 3 out of 19 rated the the best. Mansfield EcoQuantum 148-119 Double Flush costing $400.00 is one of 2 out of 6 rated the best.
I guess my plumber knew what he was talking about. Good for him and for me.
The dual flush Caromas are all over New Zealand and I cannot for the life of me figure out why the USA doesn't move in that direction (dual flush) versus one amt for all inputs...
"Is it February yet?"
Toto is great for me. The only problems I've had are: The Sanagloss option on their high end toilets (which I have) isn't yet ready for prime time. In my high mineral area (even with softener), they build up deposits that require stronger measures than the warranty will allow. The Korky valve will also clog, requiring either cleaning or replacement of the strainer, of which I have many backups.
