I was just talking to my closest tool dealer about prices on the new Dewalt mitre saws. He told me of the Makita 12″ SCMS (model # unknown)  that is on sale for $399 Canadian. Yes that’s what he said. I just had to ask what was going on with Makita for their mitre saw to be so low. I had a feeling that it was a discontinued model but the guy said that from time to time Makita offers “good” deals on their tools. I guess it’s a marketing thing whereby they are trying to compete with Dewalt among other tool companies.

Anyways, I’d like to hear from any of you folks who have tried Makita’s 12″ SCMS and please tell me what good AND bad points you honestly can say about this tool. For $399 i’m seriously thinking of getting one of these saws.

Also, have any of you heard about this great deal from Makita dealers across the U.S. or Canada?
