I’m looking for someone with knowledge of lumber grading to answer a question for me. I have units of PC studs that have large labels that say “kiln dried”, but every single stud is stamped S-dry. I called the distributor and he guaranteed me that they were kiln dried. I asked why they weren’t stamped as such and he says, “I dunno”. The lumber is Canadian export. Also the 8′ studs have painted ends and the 9′ studs from another mill do not. Should kiln dried lumber be stamped as such and have painted ends.
Can anyone recommend a good brand of studs that doesn’t have 30-40 bad ones per unit? Please no finger jointed studs or steel.
Thanks,
John
