I’m thinking of putting in :
http://www.vermontcastings.com/content/products/productdetails.cfm?id=54
A CUVSTR36 36″ Ventless Radi S/Thru Firebox, precisely. Double-sided glass/gas burning model.
When I told the deigner, he freaked out, and said no ventless fireplaces in his places…okaaaay.
Talked with the dealer, they said they put in more ventless than vented. Ventless is way more efficient. Has something like a gas GFCI, so safety’s not an issue.
I understand ventless is way easier for the dealer to install, and cheaper, so they have a motive for pushing them…I understand the designer’s concerns, but just wonder if he’s under informed.
Anybody have any experience with this system? Or thoughts on yea or nay?
Someone’s got it in for me, they’re planting stories in the press Whoever it is I wish they’d cut it out but when they will I can only guess. They say I shot a man named Gray and took his wife to Italy, She inherited a million bucks and when she died it came to me. I can’t help it if I’m lucky.

Not allowed in Canada. Why would you want to live in a chimney. Check the instructions, they want a window open, kind of defeats the purpose? Most recommend 2 hours runtime max. The list goes on and on.
" Majestic Ventless Fireplace"
Ain't no such thing as a VENTLESS fireplace.
They all vent moisture, CO2, some CO, and other residue of combustion.
The question is if the venting is outside the house or inside the house.
.
A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
Not being argumentative, but how do these things pass inspections? Someone's got it in for me, they're planting stories in the press

"Not being argumentative, but how do these things pass inspections?"In a number of places they don't.And read the instructions on them. Like you need a (partialy) open window when running them..

A ventless fireplace puts a lot of moisture into the room where it's used, not to mention the other byproducts of combustion like CO, NOX, and strange chemicals that sometimes come out of the ceramic firelogs.
Direct vent is the only way to go if you want convenience and safety.
That's sure the way it's soundin'...gotta love new technology<G> Someone's got it in for me, they're planting stories in the press
