Need advice on salvaging a 8×12 (20’long) beam that checked in a major fashion before I could get it up on the columns/brackets. It’s probably got a 5 -10 degree rotation to it. Any ideas out there?

Send it back? They look like hell if they're exposed and twist after you put 'em in. Joe H
*What are you going to use it for? If for something requiring that big a timber, Don't.
*Todd,You won't fix the check.........No clamp that I know of will pull it back together again.Ed. Williams
*Send it back, you cannot fix it. When you order the replacement beam ask for one that is FOHC or free of heart center. This will minimize the checking and twisting.
