Has anybody checked out the new Makita 10″ portable tablesaw? I was thinking about buying Bosch but new Makita seems like it might be just as good with improved fence, miter, soft start, gravity stand, etc.

It figures, I just bought the old model Makita 6 months ago...

Link below to Makita press release re: new portable.About only information I've been able to find. Haven't found any reviews yet either online or published.Still trying to make up my mind. Not sure I want to heft weight (110+ lbs) of saw/gravity stand in and out of truck. 2703 with Rousseau table combination still seems like good option, although better miter and soft start are attractive on new model.Anybody have any opinions?http://www.makita.com/co_news_pr_06_4.htm
This is only my experience but I'd say get the Makita. I bought the Bosch and went through a couple before the store replaced them with the new Makita and stand. I must say it works great. Yes, its heavy lifting up onto the truck but I like the different height settings on the stand. Lately I've used the saw to rip sheet goods for cabinets, hardwood flooring and pine stock with no problems.
There are a couple of threads here regarding problems with the Bosch saw.
How compatible is the Makita with dust collection. I have a small blower, and want to capture most of the dust.
Has anyone compared the Bosch and Makita for dust collection?

I've had the Makita 2703 with Rousseau stand & outfeed for a few years now, it's long been a mainstay of many carpenters. I took the time to properly and accurately set this up and it's pretty damn accurate. The fence is exceptional IMO. I am very happy with it and have no need or desire for anything else.
Edit: Probably the one complaint I have about the 2703 is that the miter slot is not the standard 3/4"w x 3/8"h.

Lol. Funny...different thread here. I have the same Rousseau table setup with the old Makita 2708. I like the saw because it's so portable yet still packs a punch, only problem is that it's an 8". Now I KNOW those are no longer made, and they are a premium on E-bay.Rousseau is a great set up. Had it for about 11 years now, the saw is about 21.
Have always been curious- is the router mount on the old 2708 useful?
I have never even tried it. I don't see why it wouldn't work though. Always had my own little portable router table.
