I have a Makita worm drive. Works great, heavy too.
Wish it had a soft start, torque twists when you pull the trigger.
It's an old saw, I don't know if the current model is as good or better.

My milwaukee router doesnt have soft start, and it twists like a sonofagun. Thanks, I was wondering when I would see a review on it, from someplace other than Amazon from a guy named
"framerguy" etc....
I am using this saw right now and it really is a good saw. It doens't have the startup torque problems like the previous Makitas. It is a smooth saw.
MY favorite right now is the DeWalt. We have 3 and love them.
I have run the Makita hypoid saw until a steady cloud of smoke was billowing and curling out the back.
We let it cool at lunchtime and put it back to work.
By far one of the toughest saws I have seen.
