Did you guys get the free Recip saw?
Was checking out the new Makitas the other day, and see they have a mail in promotion for a free Recip saw when you buy the four piece kit.

You can download the rebate coupon here http://www.makita.com/promo_mi_combo.htm
I think they also have them at Home Depot
Seems like a real nice set with some nice features.
If possible, hold off on combo purchases because the real deals are just around the corner.Remember last two years? 20% of all kits and a lot of tools...JT
all those combo deals were to get us locked into NICAD batteries before the lithiums came out, don't count on any rebates on lithiums until the next generation .. it could be a long time .. makita seems to have a hit here since everyone else (dewalt & milwakee) are building billion-volt lthiums, the 18 v lithium impact driver absolutely tiny, sweet!
I was told by the Dewalt rep that NiMh and Lithium Ion batteries are untested and unproven technologies, and pose a more significant health risk than NiCd. After this i checked in with Panasonic and they told me they make nearly everyones batteries and that the Dewalt rep was a fool, and in the EU NiCd has been outlawed because of the contamiation possibilities in NiCd batteries.
I agree that the dewalt rep is an idiot. Nimh has been used in radio controlled cars for ages. What about cell phones? I've had nothing but nimh or lith for almost 10 years now. I don't see any 3rd eyes growing out of my ear.
okay, I've reread everyone's posts, I don't get your reply, all I'm saying is that there appears to be 2 strategies to utillizing the new light weight lithium-ion batteries (compared to the old heavy NICDs) in power tools, one says, make the bat pack just as heavy with more power, the other, give the same power, but make it lighter .. I'm not advocating iether, that would depend on the usage ...
ps .. please continue to dispose of your batteries responsibly, and don't eat any iether ..
Free recip saw untill December 15th i think shipped the 1st of the year and yes it will be mine heh heh.
Glad to hear your getting it. Didn't want you to miss out.
if you look at the specs on the impact driver compared with the 14.4 driver there is only a fraction more torque and a lower top speed, it may be lighter but only marginally and impact drivers go easy on batteries anyway, where's the value?
