over 12 weks ago I bought the new Makita LXT Drill/Driver …
the lithium ion deal …
came with a rebate for the impact driver. Rebate form said it’d take “up to 12 weeks”
last week was 12 weeks … I waited till this week … kept checking the rebate.com site for it’s “status” … kept saying the same thing.
I emailed them begining fo this week … and the impact driver was on my door step the following day! It had been mailed out a coupla days before my email.
Just for kicks I checked that site … just now … days after I recieved the impact driver …
” We have received your submission and it is being processed. Submission status information is updated daily. Please continue to check this website to find the mail date for your submission. “
Same damn thing I read for the last 12 weeks!
the rebatestatus.com site is useless … but … the tools show up in the end as promissed.

"so it goes"
As you know, I will very soon be waiting for my LI recip saw through a rebate. This worries me cuz I'm not very patient and have a severe case of instant gratification syndrome. I wonder what the logistics behind dragging their feet for so long are? It can't actually take that long to process the whole mess.... can it? Hmmmm.
I checked that damn site every other day for the last 2 weeks ... I even worked out the time and marked it on my calender on the day I placed my order.
pissed me off that I got the same damn message every day ... even the day after delivery!
That rebate site is just something to keep us from bugging them direct.

maybe you will get two
Well, I got lucky and circumvented the whole rebate process through Makita by accident. Seems my order got messed up and the when I ordered my kit, the promotion was over. But since it was advertised wrong, HeavyDutyTools.net did right by me and sent me a recip saw for the kit themselves. Showed up today. I'm a happy boy.View Image
Jeff can't hear you. He's gone Amish.
Tipi fest 06. Let's roll.

Maybe this guy is also in charge over at Makita as well as Amazon tools.

Actually, I handle a lot of Amazon pricing and I've been smoking so much crack lately that it makes it hard to keep track. We'll be having a huge sale on SCMS and laser levels shortly, maybe after I get home from the bar.

What are you crying about? I procrastenated on sending mine off. I finaly pulled the coupon out of the drawer to fill it out and discovered that I needed the UPC label off the box.View Image The label was long gone with the box in the garbage. Which was/is in the landfill.
I comfort myself with the fact that most cordless reciprocating saws aren't worth the hassle anyway. That's what I tell myself anyway.

Yup that's me.
Tipi fest 06. Let's roll.
try telling yourself that next time you have one or two cuts to make 20' in the air somewhere...
did you try calling Makita, maybe something they could do for you? maybe not, but a phone call doesnt take much
When hes really gonna shid is when he finds out how nice they are.
I dont wanna be around when that happens .

The time lines passed. Lesson learned. I've got a Bosch 24V at work and hardly use it. I'd rather drag the cord out.
Tipi fest 06. Let's roll.
why? too heavy?
The reason I ask is that I dont really enjoy the dewalt 18 with the saftey slider . Pretty uncomfortable for me but mebbe cause Im left handed.

Nah too much of a battery hog. And it's rough as heck when it's cutting.

"I dont really enjoy the dewalt 18 with the saftey slider . Pretty uncomfortable for me but mebbe cause Im left handed."
Nope. I'm right-handed, and hate that goofy safety switch too. Ergonomics of the handle feels all wrong. OK in a simple cut standing over a couple of sawhorses, but a PITA when you're using it in any other real-world application."...never charged nothing for his preaching, and it was worth it, too" - Mark Twain
I felt the same way about the grinder.
Sphere says cool , sell it to me .
MMM, lemme try it first .
heh heh , he aint gettin it , lol.
Mine , all mine , <G>

I bought a new Makita chop saw earlier this year, rebate for a new saw blade, still havent seen it and its been well over 12 weeks.
Until I seen this thread I'd forgoten all about it.
Maybe theres hope but figure I wont see it now.
Oh, BTW, I like the saw and I would have bought it anyhow so I guess I wont be to disapointed.

ordered my lxt impact driver in march ... drill just arrived this week. awesome tools but it took way too long... I had to fax makita proof and complain since the rebate company has yet to process my paperwork.
Hmmmm.... seems to be a trend. Maybe I should start with the emails from the get-go and make a PIA of myself. (shouldn't be much of a stretch). Sounds like this rebate program needs a swift kick in the azz.
Bought the Makita kit from Amazon four months ago, and the sawzall took 13 weeks to get. Took so long I forgot about it. I enjoy the kit very much, almost as much as my guys./

I treated my self for Christmas a year ago.
Deal was , I bought a dewalt 6 pack for a reduced price . Ok, lookin good .
I get to the store and the tag thing says send in rebate for an extra tool and gave choices . Get out of here , lol.
So I get it home and fill it out and send it off . I fergit about it . Dont figgure it will come to pass . Dont check on it or shid .
Get a letter in 4 weeks that says their sorry they are out of that selection. Yea , right ! They will be sending the tool of my choice when they have inventory. Interresting .
I wait two more weeks and give them a call and the lady says its shipped . She says it should be on my door step right now as it was sent ups . I race home afraid some sunbich would steal it if it was there in fact . I drove in the drive way and it was callin me . There it was sitting in the sunshine lookin pretty in that box with the patch of lading sticker on it .
Thrilled didnt describe it as I needed it that day. IN about 15 minutes I was cuttin shid I didnt even need to cut . <G>

The website still says the same thing for me. It took about 8-9 weeks to get the recip saw. I had just checked Thursday afternoon and it said "still processing". I got home and it was on the doorstep.
I did not like to wait at all. I suppose it was worth it but I don't know why they just didn't include them in the package in the first place.
2 milkbones for you, Jeff Buck. I wrote in about my impact rebate friday or saturday night, now, monday afternoon, my impact driver just got here. Sweet!!
I'm sure they've got thousands of these things stacked up on the loading dock, just waiting for people to ask about them.

Experienced the same problem with promotional sander with purchase of table saw. Called Makita to bitch and they promised to send me my sander. Meanwhile, original sander shows up then the one Mak sent after bitch session. Called Makita, offering to send one sander back - the support guy just said "happy father's day - keep 'em both.
gave second sander to bro-in-law
