Makita roofing nailer double fireing
I bought a used makita An451 roofing nailer. I was told it worked but I bought a box of Grip tight (I think that was the name of their generic nails) from home depot. It fires one nail then the next two jam in the barrel. I cleaned the gun up with kerosene. Still the same misfire. I do not see anything worn out of the ordinary. Is it the nails or could it be something else. I know it may be the nails but do not want to buy another box for a broken gun. If it is the gun is it something that I could fix, clean? Or is it off to the repair shop and if so, is this gun worth fixing? I was told by a couple of people that they had used one and liked it a lot. What do you suggest for a brand of nails for the Makita. The generic listed the An451 on the box.

Catfish, occasionally the generix don't work. Try another brand of nails before you use the gun for an anchor.
I think kerosene will ruin the gaskets.

Warning! Be cautious when taking any advice from me. Although I have a lifetime of framing experience, some of it is viewed as boogerin and not consistent with views of those who prefer to overbuild everything...including their own egos
Additionally, don't take any political advice from me. I'm just a parrot for the Republican talking points. I get all my news from Rush Limbaugh and Fox and Friends (they are funny...try them out)!
I am going to get some Bostitch nails tomorrow. After cleaning it I remember somewhere that someone said not to use wd 40. I do not know why. If the o rings are not neoprene then they may swell from the kerosene if it got to them. Similar to brake parts. Anyone on this forum ever rebuilt a nail gun? I assume it would be something like the o rings on a paint ball gun. If I can not get it to work maybe I will rip it apart to see what's in it and post it here.
Thanks
