“Marathon Electric hot water tanks”
In my new construction I have been considering the “Marathon Electric Hot Water Heaters” by Rheem..According to the literature they have a very high efficiency. I would appreciate any comments pro and con.
Thanks

It's the best electric water heater you can buy! Very well insulated and very well built. No metal to rust. No anode rod to corrode and cause problems. It should last a lifetime. I wouldn't have any other kind of electric heater.
Thank you for the info
One of the local electric co-op's offer them to there customers if they aggree to alow the co-op to install a radio controlled peak period shut off.
I'm on there list as an installer, never really kept track of the number I've put in.
They have an R-22 rating, alot of the heaters on the market are around R-16.
I've seen alot of water heaters die simply because they are located in damp areas. This doesn't seem to be a problem with the Marathons, there is nothing to rust, and the foam insulation is far superior to fiberglass.
The co-op offers an 80gal. for around $250, the same at a plumbing wholesaler is $780.
The warranty is great.
The problems I have seen with them were caused by the home owner install, and one rare one that leaked from the factory
If I needed a water heater for my own use this would be the one I would pick
thanks for the info. We live in an area that does not have an electric co-op. Even if I have to pay the top price, it proabably will be worth it in the long run.
They are indeed the premium electric water heater. Certainly as efficient as you can get, and should last a long time. The one to get if you're going first cabin.
Of course, more conventional heaters are nearly as efficient if you get the "premium" units with extra insulation.
thanks for the reply
I've had one in my damp root cellar for several years now.
I bought a short squat one made for areas with low ceilings.
It was a good purchase decision and I don't know why more electric hot water heaters are not made this way. It eliminates the worry about a conventional HWH rusting through in as few as 8 or 10 years.
Just be sure you or your plumber heeds the warnings not to sweat copper fittings within so many inches of the fiberglass walls.
thank you for the information.
