I’m considering a minor redo of my master bath. The tile, other than being an ugly color and 53 years old, is in great shape. My problem is that I need to remove two towel racks. Four tiles are affected by each support and the “accent color” idea doesn’t work too well. There are 4×4 tiles. I’ve tried searching online, but all I’m finding is what’s popular now, as would be expected. Anybody know of a company that caters to this kind of business?

Actually, I have heard of a company that sells limited lines of older tile, but I can't remember the name. Maybe if you post this at the John Bridge forum you might have better luck.
If you can't find similar tiles, assuming the towel bars are all in the same horizontal row or course of tile, consider removing all the tile horizontally in that row and replace it with something compatible; it might look a little 'racing stripe' but if done well, it could be a nice accent to a dated tile job.
Good Luck.

Yes but they don't do Web or mail. They've got bins of old tiles to the ceiling. Not that they intended to but they just never have cleaned up. You walk in with your 50 year old tile, one of the guys grunts and off you go. Next thing you know the 70 year old guy is climbing the face of the bins and comes down with just what you need. I don't know how much longer they can hang on though, things are thin in the tile trades around here.
Got pictures? I'll be glad to go by and ask.
You might want to see if you can locate any foreclosure/vacant houses built same time as yours in your neck o the woods?
Or search locally for someone who makes custom tiles. Bring him/her a sample of the tile you want and need to match, and let them make up the 16 tiles you need.
Good luck!

I had a similar situation except it was with the floor I just needed a few pieces. Luckily the vanity had tile under it and I was able to move it & was able to get enough to repair what I needed. Possibly your vanity can come away from the wall also and can do the same & take out the hidden tiles & use them

Remove toilet tank - 'mine' wall tile from behind tank (replace with closest match) - use 'mined' tile to patch.

If you don't go for the steal behind the toilet tank idea, which I find imaginative, consider new designer tiles to back the towel rods. A decorative tile with the original basic color involved would look like it was intended to be there and make you look like a designer guru. The tiles might have to special ordered or commissioned, but it beats replacing the whole lot.
