On a small renovation I will need to blend sheetrock with existing plaster walls. Any advice on this process?

choose thickness and furring to bring the surface to the same plane. Stabilize the plaster edge with firtifier or bonding agent. Use mixing type mud for fill coat eg Durabond 90.
tape and finish coats skimmed to your desire.

Careful with the durabond. It's dangerous in the hands of the inexperienced.
Could you provide some specifics. Thanks much for your help
Thank you for the help
That warning was valid. Durabond sets up hard as concrete. Easysand 90 would be better for the inexperienced and it'll work for finish coats too. It makes it possible to sand down the high spots if need be. All depends on your skills..

Is Durabond the finish coat that is used for plaster walls or is this a "repair" or retrofit material ?
I guess what I am asking is if an experienced plastering contractor is doing a plaster wall installation, is Durabond one of the brands that would be used for the top surface ?
(I'm sure you can tell I am a plaster novice ?)
Thanks,
Alan

Dura bond is a setting type joint compound. It is not a finish compound. I use it for fill work, base coats, patching builds before finish coats..

Thanks, Piffin, for clarifying.
In our region (southwest Virginia), most of this has died off as a construction trade.
It's a darned shame.
