House I just bought has Aluminum fascia and soffits, I can live with the soffits but would like to change out the fascia. So what is a good material? ProTrim is common here but it is just a glorified OSB. I have asked around the local lumberyards nobody stocks Azek trim, though one place will special order for me. The other thing is the soffit fits into a channel on the fascia it’s never simple. Anyway any ideas let me know.

"The old Quaker Meeting house is almost 300 years old and as my sawzall made its way into the pegged ancient wood, a smell emerged that told me about dried, cracked things. The ancient Quakers sitting in the well worn pocket of their silence on the darkened pine benches were whispering something to me across the years. Something about why I was here, why we're here. Lord but it was hot. I reached in to clear anything out of what was the sill, nothing but the hardened mud, lime and sand mortar, dust and shadows." -- Jer
Replacing aluminum facia with Azek or another composite will take alot of work.
Do you plan to tear off the existing subfacia and replace with the new Azek? If not you will have to reshingle your overhangs.
I would probably put f-channel up to cover the edges of the existing soffit. Then put the Azek up. If your subfacia is 2x take it off, replace with 1x, cut your soffit back 3/4" put the f-channel up nailing it through the face of the 1x, then put your Azek on sliding it behind the drip edge.
What's wrong with me? I could ask you the exact same thing.
Well the house is in need of a roof so the plan is to tear off the old cedar shake, do new fascia then reroof. The subfascia is in good shape just a fir 2x6. My plate is getting full with the new place I may rethink the aluminum but I would like to change it. Thanks for the reply.

Well if you are planning on reroofing the house it shouldn't be too bad. Just put the Azek over the Aluminum facia and put your new roof on. Done deal. What's wrong with me? I could ask you the exact same thing.
