Maybe another reason why it seems so dull around here
A snip from a post on the plans-drawing software site ChiefTalk, sponsored by the people that develop and sell Chief Architect software. This from a cabinet dealer: “I read in Remodeling magazine where overall there has been a 40% drop in cabinet sale across the nation when you look at all cabinet manufacturers, …” So is it this poopy Drupal stuff, or just a general malaise? I get the feeling when looking at the postings on sites like JLC and ContractorTalk, that things have slowed way, way down. Someone may come here and report that they have never had a bigger backlog, that their best year ever is right now, but I would think they are in the distinct minority.

I think Drupal contributed to the massive droop in visits here, or more likely this implementation of Drupal. Drupal may work fine if it's set up properly.
No doubt the slowdown in building has caused some of the loss of visits too.
Used to be, when things slowed down, construction-wise, and especially in the winter, things picked up here.
I think it's the sorry software, and the lack of administrators that know what to do with it... or the lack of their wont to do anything with it... almost like taunting's been acquired by the gubmint?
That's it!
The gummint did

Slowdowns, no work, Droop-all, snowed this week everwhere but Hawaii, &c. Bayh is right. Hell with it all. Think I'll go to Key West, try to get a job as a barkeep at the Hog's Breath.
anyone here can like it or not but thats what the Tavern did for a real lotta people...kept em' here in good times'n bad.
This place is still white bread'n mayonnaise...even without the mods now..Even if all the bugs were fixrd...it still feels like hollow halls..

Next thing you know, folks will start talking about a recession or somethin'
I first came to the web site because I was working on a MAJOR DIY project (by my standards). I found a vibrant online community here. Lots of chatter, lots of banter, some criticism,... but lots of good advice, too. The expertise vastly outweighed everything else.
Then, Drupal happened. I've seen it implemented on other web sites but what happened here was nothing short of dramatic and devastating. It was so bad, a lot of people left and haven't come back. Heck, I left, too. It sucks here, now. The "Classic" place sucks, too. This vibrant online community was destroyed by the change.
I have been busting my butt on my project and have been making lots of headway. It has turned out exactly as I envisioned it. My wife said, "It looks just like your drawings." As you might surmise, that's high praise, indeed!
I've just been too busy working to participate much. I also don't have many more questions, as I am working on things I understand.
That's my excuse. What's yours?
The software slowed me down. I had problems getting logged back in and the format seemed cumbersome. I am starting to get used to it but it is a slow process.
As for the business side, I wouldn't be surprised at people saying they have a huge backlog. They laid off most of the workers and are pretty slow to rehire them. I know the lead time I am getting seems as long as it was during the go go times a few years ago and the crews who are still working complain just as much about how busy they are. There are just not as many crews. The sad thing is that in most cases they seemed to lay off the best guys and kept the cheap guys.
Being frank.
The new software sucks. I've stopped in just to check in. This place was lively prior.
