I want to glue veneer ply , 1/4″, to
the ends of a melamine cab.
Must I go get Roo glue or can I
use PL400 as I have it on hand.
Any other glue you’ve used?

The Pl will work just fine. I'd use a toothed spreader tho and clamp it flat or chuck it in my vacuume bag.

I have irriatable Vowel syndrome.
Well, Franklin does make Titebond Melamine Glue especilly for the purpose. I haven't used it but I did see it on the shelf of a Woodcraft store once.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming<!----><!----><!---->

Looks like Im in good shape. I have
the PL, hate to have to buy another
bottle of glue.Do you bother roughing it up first
or am I just wasting time?
PL Premium adheres well to smooth surfaces, and especially well if you very lightly mist the smooth surface (say a glossy-painted cab end), but not the new ply as it is porous.
A light pass with sandpaper to take some of the gloss off the cab end can do no harm.
