Trig,
Look for a second-story porch article in the next issue of FHB. It is all about installing a 1-piece EPDM membrane.
Good Luck

It's my job!
Resource Conservation Technology in Baltimore. FH advertiser. They guided me through my one and only EPDM installation, very low slope. Not inexpensive product but they did the seaming, installation was a cake walk. Very good folks.

I need to have a membrane roof installed on my porch roof and flat (almost flat) roof as well in NH. I am wondering if anyone can give me a run-down on what the "construction" should be. The flat roof has from 3 to 6 layers on it of rolled roof, based on the cut edge at the transition to the main roof. The flat roof has leaked, so I want all the roofing removed so I can confirm the condition of the sheathing and joists (no rot, etc).
What should the "build-up" from the original 1850's sheathing be? The roofer said that sound-board(?) would go on top of the sheathing, then the membrane. And that the built-up roof would be about 2 inches, thus a taller drip edge showing at the edges.
Anyone have experience in installing these type roofs, and maybe in the seacoast of NH? Am having difficulties having any roofers call me back on getting a quote, much less getting the job done. Have one quote and 4 no-call backs.... would like at least a second opinion/quote.
Thanks all!
