I will have a 200 page book out this summer or fall by the University of
Texas Press on the mesquite titled, “The Magnificent Mesquite.” If you
have been looking for comprehensive information on the wood such as
drying schedules, wood borer control, woodworking properties, sources of
lumber and blocks for sculpture and truner, or just general information
on the tree from a historical or cultural standpoint, this is the only
game in town. There has not ever been any good source of information on
the mesquite and I decided to write one. If you are interested, go to
http://www.inu.net/brazos/TheMagnificentMesquite.htm and see some
information. You can return your email address and get put on my
emailing list to notify when the book is out.
Have a great day!

You didnt mention Bar-B-CUE!
*Hey!I could have had a book published you know. However, after researching the market demographics, we decided that "A Behavioral Approach To Stockdog Training" just didnt have the broad market appeal of Mesquite.I'll contact you if I have questions. It's good to have an obscure area of expertise.JonC

I think mesquite is a great wood for fine woodworking, and suspected it would be available as flooring. I think a resource book will be a fine addition to the body of archectural literature.
