I am designing an addition for myself. I want to build a 24×40 garage with full bed and bath upstairs. I have a medium slope towards the back and want to use metal deck as the support for the garage floor. Has anyone used this in a residential setting? What about the econimics?
I will have to fill with about 122 cubic yards of gravel if I don’t use the metal deck. I was going to look at putting the deck on bar joists where the joists ran longways resting on CMU piers, or form a concrete wall longways and rest the middle of the deck on that.
Any ideas? Like I said………..How about the economics?

*Pre-cast concrete panels? Might not be too costlydid
*Metal decking works compositely with the concrete topping, however, the costs for such a small area residential job is overkill.
