The Tuscan is coming along…we’re now looking for roofing that would give us the clay-tile look without the weight. In your opinion, what metal or fiber-cement products will yield the best (most authentic looking) finished product for the best value? Now that these products have been on the market for a while, have there been any significant problems with these products?

Unless the fiber cement tiles have really improved over the years, I would not put them on.
However , take wtih a grain of salt
my only experince was wwith a local company that tried to produce them, cant remeber their name , it was like Chem_____ something. they sold millions of dollars of them. failed bad after a few years, swelled up real big in the rain, and got real heavy, typical , filed bankruptcy and ran
Now I am not a fan of metal roofs, but we had a client that wanted a metal roof and it looked like the red spanish tiles, the half moon shape ones that overlap, one points up , one points down, cant remeber the name for the style
but these were in long sheets that looked like that, and interlocked like staning seam , so you saw no fastners
glanced around for the file, cant find em, its been a few years since I had a call on them
house is on the back way home, still looks absolutely great from the street. first time our roofer had ever put them on, learned a lot, now he has done several
about twice the price of 50 year laminate
me , I like the 50 year laminates
but if there is a good fiber cement style that is out there with a proven track record, Id like to be corrected and add the info to my files
like I said Im only talking about a local produced product that failed and who knows what the reasons were
Did I read a post of your'n that indicated you'd installed quite a few of these type roofs?
Which? metal, cement, or clay? There is a metal sheet brand named Met-tile that looks pretty good from a distance. I did some of their primary market testing in Colorado. I think it is worth having if you like the look of it
