I’m planning on reworking the roof on my house. The shingles are about done and I want to replace them with a metal roof. Part of the house has a cathedral ceiling with 2×4 rafters. There is only 4 inches of insulation there. Does anyone have experience with adding foam over the existing roof decking, putting down purlins and then screwing down 24 gauge roofing? I’m considering 4 inches of blue foam, pvc pipe spacers under the purlins and screws through the spacers into the rafters. Wind uplift is a concern here in Southwest Montana.
Thanks for any suggestions.

No need for pipe spacers.
use GRK structural lag head screws through the purlins and deep into the rafters.
