I am thinking of using corrugated roofing called TufRib as a siding material for a garage to office conversion. The question I have is related to placing 1″ foamboard behind the siding to bump up the r-value. After removing the old siding and covering sheathing with new housewrap would the foambard just be glued and screwed into the sheathing or should some sort of screw strip be installed around the top and bottom for a more secure hold? Window/door trim will then just be nailed through the foamboard, correct? Has anyone ever done a detail similar to this? Thanks much.

Gluing may be desired if you are up north. but foam- board should only need a roofing nail to "tack" it into place...a key here is to place your nail away from where you expect to land your siding fastener...(and look at my post about "residing garage" if you are using a vertical material you should use nailing skreeds (horizontal) to catch your fasteners...
