I live in a part of Texas where any roofing material that meets the class 4 standard for impact resistance (lots of hail around here) will give me a 35% discount on my homeowners insurance.
I found an excellent roofing company that does a lot of both standing seam metal and impact resistant shingles.
I would really love to have the standing seam metal roof, but the roofer will give me Landmark TL ULTIMATE (Impact Resistant) shingles (with a life time limited warranty for whatever that is worth) for about a third the price of the standing seam, and he has a very competitive price on the standing seam.
Is there any really good reason for me to pay three times as much for the standing seam metal roof over the lifetime shingles?

There are always lots of places to put the money. Very few other metal roofs in the neighborhood, so no advantage for resale. And, the city fire station is about a half mile down the road.I guess shingles are the answer.
