A neighbor of mine has shingles that have come off his roof. He went to replace the ones that came off but found that they were 39″ rather than 36″. I remember now that the shingles were metric. The house is built Keiser Industries in Maine so perhaps the shingles were purchased in Canada.
Where can he get replacements? Any help would be apperciated KaiserRoo

Asphalt shingles around here are 36" for 3-tab and 39" for architectural.
Yeah, I've heard of metric 3-tabs, but have never seen one.
IKO's are metric and were very common in Maine. You did not specify what type of shingle- architecturals and three tabs should still be available; jets (i.e., no cut-outs) were very common, but haven't been available for a decade.
Metric Shingles
Do they also require metric roofing nails?
No, but you need metric air in the coil nailer.
The nails look to be like standard roofing nails that are galvanized with metric type matrial. Due to the fact that the material covering the nail is metric and the steel used in the nail and the size of the nail are "standard" they have rusted beyond repair.
The staples are metric from China and metric from Canada because they don't seem to match. That's why some of the staples were horizontal and the others were vertical.
metric roof shingles
The roof shingles are both three tab and probable Iko as the house was built/made around the same time and place before being placed here in RI. If I can't find the shingle what would you suggest for a temporary fix. I have recomended he get the whole thing re-roofed but he can't deal with that at this time.

PS the old breaktime format was much easier to use and I'd get an e-mail when someone replied.
