I used to do these frequently and several things been on my mind . Whats on yours?
Ive been working help lately and somthing from the past has been relived every day. Odd.
Dad used to say when you are “clocked ” in talk about work at hand . When you are not then anything is ok.
At the time I thought that was really old school thought but now Im getting old I really appreciate it . Hum.
Now to be robbed out of the 15 minutes of non production really bothers me . Actually many times a day. In watching and listening three people have been stopped dead still for one event . I started playing with a calulator on it and figgured up the imaginary bill. That got complicated because I started noticeing other things like an ambulance going by with the siren and lights on chewed up more than 5 minutes. The customer visit as well stopped the crew and I paid the bill. A visit from the opposite sex pretty much puts a damper on production. Last but certainly not least is the almighty cell phone .
I was unable to track all the deficient times to make the bill. I now have a clue how they built houses with a hammer and hand saw affordable .

Black hairs growing in the ears.
Why do I need them? I thought there was a divine plan goin on. Did God screw up or is this a message Im not reading ? To be faced with a loss of old age sight and hearing , but I have a garden of black hairs in my ears .
It would be one thing if I could see them so I could take them down. Yes, If I could see the bastids , it would be a mere job I would perform with out griping about it . But no, I cant see them growing other than by using out side sunshine or I suppose I surgeons light . Ive never used a surgeons light but they dont put them on sale at Walmart.
People dont offer to help you out with it . They dont even mention it . You just catch them looking . DW doesnt help because she cant see either . It doesnt seem to bother her as much as me .
When I can pinch them but not able to wrap one around my finger to pull it , I corner my Grandson. On a given Sunday while watching football he can pluck over 20! He lays them on a napkin so I can see what a job he is doing . These suckers are bad big and black.
The question always arises , why cant I see them in my ears ?

You're impatient. You have to wait until they grow long enough.

I cant . I can feel them with my fingers. Once my fingers tell me they are present , they drive me crazy like a chipped tooth.
Years ago my Fatherinlaw used to sit in a recliner snapping his Zippo lighter on the end of his nose. It didnt take long for me to ask what he was doing . Yes of course , he was trying to capture hair growing on the end of his nose. I just had thought at the time , so this is what getting old is all about . As a matter of fact it is .

As far as cell phones goes a $250.00 mistake! I ripped
a phone off my young helpers britches after it had rung
"and he anserwed " I know 40 times in6 hrs. & slung
that son -b###h! down though the field --moment of
passion--whewww- fired him, but had to buy him another
phone. I keep mine in the truck,so does anyone who helps me
now, one of the few work rules I have.
Now hairs i.m talken eyebrows, how can ya stare at yourself in
the mirror every morning and not see eyebrow hairs that could
make pencil leads look skinny, I dont know, kind of like dust
bunnies that matewrialize that are as big as a chiwawa right after
ya run the vacuum cleaner, shoot ,wonder of science I reckon.
Andy Rooney?
Yea.

That's what I figured, but the title of the thread had me wondering.
Counting how much time you lose when an ambulance drives by?!
Looking at things that way will have you working by yourself sooner than you know it.

Im glad you brought that up.
The reason you mention it is certainly the reason I never mentioned it to them.
I was told I wasnt any fun. Im sure that wasnt kidding. Any way in that discussion this subject was talking about the quality of his work and I was thinking about the lack there of but I didnt mention it .
I love working by my self . I would rather be alone and have spent the majarioty of my life working alone even when help is on the job. It takes good help to be able to do that . The most productive , financial move is to work with them dammit.

I had one man who had a habit that bugged me, We started at 8 rolled out the tools got ready then he said he had to go take a dump, Never before even if he was waiting for an hour, Always on my time, well maybe no big deal but 15 minutes a day x 5 years added up to a lotta time. When i worked for people i only very rarely did that, O and around 3 his wife always called with a shopping list for his way home.
I went through the dump time too with the one I let go. I never mentioned that to him but I did mention the phone and being business minded when he was clocked in, which he was . I had decided him and I were too far apart for a sit down discussion to do any good . Actually the hard part of the project was completed and as dissatisfied as I was , he was going to get his last check Friday. It was only Wed morning and he started a discussion with me . He stated I was paying him nearly enough and if it didnt improve he would have to look for better employment somewhere else as he was positive he was certainly worth more money.
I can normally handle a conversation better but this one came at an awful handy time . I just said , lets not spoil the moment . Youve got the rest of the day to improve your life and I certainly dont want to be the one who stood in your way. Let me hand you that opportunity with your final check. Im normally a nicer person than that and wasnt proud of the way I handled it . I sure felt better at the time . It was a big relief to watch him drive off .
