Amazon has a Milwakee 14.4 volt kit with an impact wrench, driver, light and two batteries for $210. I’ve been wanting an impact driver, and I need a new cordless drill, but is an impact wrench the same as an impact driver in terms of utility? I presume I just put an appropriate screw driver bit on the wrench?
And how are the 14.4 v Milwakee tools? Is the battery life decent? How is the battery run time?
thanks!

impact wrenches are the same as drivers except for the attachment head is a 3/8" or 1/2" square head for sockets - whereas the drivers have the 1/4" quick shank head for bits.
Aside from being a bit clutzier due to having to use an accessory to fit bits on it - if you ever use it for sockets - it'll have more power for those uses - the larger square head transfers more raw power over to the work.
Sounds like a pretty good deal, but I will say that the Makita 14.4 kit light is a flourescent work light which is pretty kick ####.
I've seen the Makita 14.4 kit as low as $150 or so and for the light alone, that'd be my choice.
Not sure if the Milwaukee is a hammer drill - that could sway you if you neeeded one.

Yeah, they have the Makita kit for about $10 more. I'll take another look at it. Maybe I can put my hands on them at the big box and see how they feel.Oops, I forgot. I don't have much feeling in my hands.
I just looked at that on Amazon and I think it's a mis-print-if you look more closely at the description, it seems like it's an impact driver, not wrench. I believe I saw the same thing (but with a plastic case, not a bag) at HD this past weekend for $199.
The tools are good but I was never a fan of the battery (I had the 18v set)-they get really hard to take off. Battery life was average, in my experience.
We have 14.4 Milwaukee drills and hammer drills in our shop and have been very happy with them. Lots of torque and good battery life, with reasonable weight. We did get a dud battery, but they replaced it. They often have specials where you get a free battery by mail when you buy a kit.
Hope this helps. Rich.
