Milwaukee cordless drill and tools 28v
Has anyone used or do you own the Milwaukee 28v cordless drill? I’ve been eyeing up a combo but mostly for the drill.
Here is a link to Milwaukee’s website to show the combo I’m looking at.
I’d love whatever feedback I can get.

I've had that kit for 2 years. The drill has lots of power but is heavy so I'd be sure you need that much oomph to warrant dragging the weight around. My drill just started to show signs of losing some torque, might be time for new brushes. The juice lights on the battery are real handy - check how much battery life is left BEFORE crawling off into the nether regions of an attic or crawlspace.
The circ saw was a pleasant surprise, I almost never need the corded saw anymore.

Pete,
I second what Norm says, I've used the 28V set for about 18 months now. Plenty of power in all the tools. I use the drill with a 4" hole saw all the time as well as with large spade bits. Hammer grill works well for tapcons and the like, much bigger than that and go to the rotary hammer. Circ saw and sawzall have replaced my corded tools for the remodeling I do. I had to replace a failed battery under warranty about 6 Mo. ago Milwaukee gave me a straight up replacement no questions asked.
Thanks so far guys.
It looks like good stuff to me but there is no better gauge than experience of use.
I do like the fact the batteries are under a 5 year warrantee. I am told that the batteries have a computer chip in them and that it records the first charge so that they can accurately record the warrantee period.
I think I'll be making that purchase soon.

Pete,
FYI, JLC did a review of Li-Ion sets in their April 07 issue. Milwaukee came out favorably in that as well.
Hey Pete,
I've been using the V28 system (mainly the pistol-grip drill and the D-handle drill with right-angle head) for a couple years now. Good tools, all the power I need--biggest holes I regularly drill are 2 9/16", with either a self-feed bit or hole saw.
The drills are heavy, ja.
Battery gage is great.
Sawzall is very powerful. Good QR blade clamp, and a foot that's easy to adjust.
The metal cutting circ saw is awesome--cuts up to 2" heavywall conduit, like a hot knife through butter.
If you're mainly after a drill-driver, depending on how much torque you need and how important the weight is, you might look at the V18 Milwaukee pistol-grip drill. I've had the chance to use one for a while and it's a lot lighter and more compact than the V28, but still has the power to run a 3/4" nail eater bit through multiple 2-by-4s, and not bog down.
I've heard that Mil. is putting out a V18 impact driver, in a month or so. Heavy, but I'll bet it's the usual Mil. quality.
Cheers,
Cliff
Hi Pete , Ive been using the v28 4 pc set and also picked up an extra battery so i have 3 batts. I love them . and never lack in power. I still have my corded circ saw and recipro but almost never plug them in. and I will never go back to reg 18 volt tools again. I keep my old 18 volt set at home so i ca do little home type jobs. and after using them for the last 10 months i havent noticed a drop in battery power or life. There Grrrreat. you wont be sorry. and you can find great deals if you just look around. I got mine from Home Depot at a 30% savings. but at full price there still worth it.
