Great. I've got 6 of them.

Me too, interesting that the website doesn't work<G> Someone's got it in for me, they're planting stories in the press
Whoever it is I wish they'd cut it out but when they will I can only guess.
They say I shot a man named Gray and took his wife to Italy,
She inherited a million bucks and when she died it came to me.
I can't help it if I'm lucky.
Both sites worked for me at 7:35PM, CST.

Yeah it does work now. All I got before was a grey screen, figured they'd been bought up by Task Force<G> Someone's got it in for me, they're planting stories in the press

I wonder if they are going to fix them or junk them, that is a lot of recycle. Think I would figure out a fix. Bet that vendor is on the sh*t list now.
Did you notice the two other brands mentioned? Ibelieve one of them is the one Harbor Freight sells,Chicago Pneumatic.
I've had mine rebuilt by Voltman...might present a problem...<G> Someone's got it in for me, they're planting stories in the press

" Ibelieve one of them is the one Harbor Freight sells,Chicago Pneumatic."Wrong Tar Heel Breath.Chicago Pneumatic is a long time high end pneumatic tools company.http://www.cp.com/HF uses Chicago Electric as one of their brands along with Central Penumatic.I was thinking the same thing the first 3 times I read the recall..
.
A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
Good catch master, grasshopper head hanging in shame.

Thanks for posting this. I have an 18V Lok-Tor hammer drill, and it's within the time window for the recall. I'm in Milwaukee and I need to go out to a couple of distributors near the engineering center/service department, so when I do, I'll report back here with any info I can.
I have at least 8 between 18 & 14v. I hope they send them fast.
Headstrong, I'll take on anyone!
Great. I've got 2 Lok-Tor drills within the time window for the recall, 5 batteries.

I just contacted Milwaukee. What a PITA! You have to send the batteries back and wait for the new ones to arive. I'm glad I just upgraded to Mikits Lith Ion. I'd be without drills for a while.
I was going to sell them on craigslist but the deal fell through. Now I have to wait for the new batteries. 2 drills and an impact driver.
Headstrong, I'll take on anyone!
You can send them to a regional service center, right? What did they say the turn-around time would be? I'm taking mine in to the local center tomorrow (if my parts come in at a distributor nearby) and I'll pick their braims.
"I cut this piece four times and it's still too short."
They didn't give me an answer on time. If you go to the center they have to send them out too. I figured I would try that. Are the codes on the bottom of the batteries readable? They need that to replace them.

I was concerned that the code wouldn't be legible but that was about the only area that wasn't gouged. I only have one battery that's old enough to be in the recall- the others came with the drill. I'm pretty sure there are other locations that they don't mention, like directly on the battery cells. I don't know where they would send them- the world HQ is one building over from where I'll be. Probably some un-pronouncible country.

3 of my 6 batteries are affected by this recall. Only my oldest (4-5 years old) are affected. The bright side of this is...... I get 3 brand new batteries to replace my oldest batteries that were on their last leg anyway. And.... they pay for shipping.

I went to the factory service center and they were having a cookout, but I digress. Walked in, got a new one and walked out. Anyone who lives near a factory service center can do the same thing and I would recommend that anyone else send them to the closest one to cut costs and turnaround time. I only had one that was affected but it was an old one I got from the guy I bought the kit from, at Milwaukee Tool.I wouldn't want to the the battery supplier that screwed up on this one. Good thing they have insurance for stuff like this.
"I cut this piece four times and it's still too short."
Yes, definitely a PITA. we had 3 batteries affected, new have to wait for return form (they pay shipping) then they send replacements after they get old ones. When Dell had their battery scare last year they at least sent the battery first and had you send back the old one in the box that the new one came in. I guess Milwaukee doesn't trust that people would send back the old ones (I had considered keeping them myself).
Hope this helps. Rich
I would think that whoever they got the batteries from will want them back, in order to not pay for more batteries than the number that come back. "Uh, yeah, we had 1 mil-lion claims, that's it, a mil-lion claims, that's the ticket!" might not work. Here's a link to the authorized service centers in CT where you live, according to your profile:http://www.milwaukeetool.com/us/en/customers.nsf/frmServiceCenterSearchResults?ReadForm&nav1=ps&state=CT&type=TOL&typeDisp=Power%20ToolsCall them and ask if they'll do an exchange.
"I cut this piece four times and it's still too short."
You're right, I guess. Thanks for the link. I haven't had much luck with their service centers, they just end up sending stuff to the factory and really can't do anything there besides commiserate.
They should really just trust me; I wouldn't lie to them:)
Rich
Wow, 1 million batteries. Hope they have a safe, responsible way of disposing those. Nothing you want to take lightly when the bulletin has phrases like 'may explode' and 'laceration hazard'. Never a good combination.
