Minimum pitch for copper on a shed roof
Finally getting ready to do a screened porch and it will have a shed roof. I would like to put a standing seamed copper roof on it so I won’t have to fuss with it again in my lifetime. It will project out over the porch 12′. What would be the minimum roof pitch we would be able to work with? I was thinking about this type of roof for durability.

The manufacturer probably
has a minimum pitch requirement, but can you get 3:12 or steeper?
Thank you David I just wanted to be sure.

What David said.
The manufacturer's limit on my metal roof is 3:12, which is what our shed dormer is. We put down a layer of I&W just to be safe.
Thank you Scott for the reply.

I install copper standing seam regularly over unheated spaces down to 1/12.
Any lateral seams are where leaking could occur. If panels over 10' long are used (I never use anything longer) then there would be a lateral seam in each row. Panels over 10' long tend to oilcan and they must be installed with expansion clips to allow them to move.
To install copper standing seam on a less than 3/12 slope, there is special detail for lateral seams. Instead of connecting the top of one pan directly to the bottom of the next, a cleat is attached across the pan 4"-6" below the top of the pan. The next pan is then locked to the cleat creating a 4"-6" overlap.
If the roof is less than 1/12, I would caution against using standing seam under any conditions and instead switch to flat seam.

I will find out about flat seam roofing too. Thanks for the advice.
