I have a 12inch single bevel Dewailt compound miter saw. I have recently been installing a lot of Pergo type flooring. The problem is the 12inch saw does not cut all the way across the planks. I have to flip it over to finish the cut. I really need to get a sliding CMS. My question is this. Is there much more a 12inch slider can do the a 10inch can’t?
Thanks

How much are you shy finishing the cut? Sometimes when I have a lot to cut and each one requires me to lift the material high enough to finish cutting through, I just make a jig. I build a slave board to elevate the outside edge of the board high enough to finish the cut. Usually this is only if it's no more than an additional 1-1 1/2" or so at most.
Rip a couple of pieces of 3/4 ply and put them on the saw bed. Make then deeper than the bed so the blade will not cut it into two pieces (right and left) it also gives you a zero clearance if you are only doing 90 deg cuts. That should raise it enough to handle it fine. One may be enough. I was cuting some cheapo Pergo knockoff that is 7 5/8 face plus the t&g and it does it fine on my DW705 without adding anything.
To answer you SCMC Q - not much. Crosscut capacity is not a function of blade diameter with SCMSs. Crosscut is a function of the table and tubes. Check out MFG specs if you want to max out capacity. But most vary by only 1". Expect a 12" - 13" total range. The blade diameter does impact the depth of cut though - about 1" more depth out of a 12" blade.
The other tricks suggest can get you through the job without the investement in a SCMS though.

A 12" will cut a 4x4 post.a 10" might not if it's much more than 3 1/2". At least that's what I found with my Hitachi 10" SCMS. Besides that it's awesome.
