Looking at buying either a dewalt dw716 or dw715 miter saw. Mostly use in home workshop and occasional deck building. AM getting to run trim in new house I am building(how wife is letting me buy it). Do I really need the double bevel or would the single bevel work fine? Have been using a 10″ delta nonbevel saw.

if its your first saw I would get the most bang for the buck....since you got the OK....;>)
..but my old dw CMS works just fine without the added features...I use mine around the house as well
..I'm an electrician not a carpenter, and for me just using the miter and coping the other corner has been more enjoyable, relaxing .........and less wasteful, since I have to figure out what I do wrong when I don't get the compound angles just right.
I end up using the fancy cuts for "garden"projects......
Single bevel would certainly work fine....but I'm thinking your "home shop" might be limited in space? The ability to bevel from either side might make that constraint less hinderous.
I haven't purchased (or looked at) a single bevel saw in a while. Is the price difference that great?

My home shop will be 24 x 48 with 12 foot ceilings. Space is not a problem. I was just wondering if the extra $80 is worth it or not. If it is I dont' mind spending the money.
Wow! Nice size shop!
If you're a serious woodworker, I'd suggest spending the extra on the dual bevel. Just makes life that much easier. A hundred dollars or more extra and I'd say ferget it....but for $80?....Go for it.

I have DW 705 and Hitachi 10" single bevels. I hardly ever use bevel feature. I usually do crown/cove, etc. upside down against the fence. But I do not do a bunch of it. I think the old 705 is one of the best compromise saws. Mine has made some nice picture/mirror frames and build several houses and many decks. Bought some new brushes but hav not had need to install them. Check it out every now and then and hardly ever needs any adjustments.
There are some good deals on 705's around. Personally I am still lusting for a slider. I am having trouble justifying it to myself.

Thanks, Everyone for your replies, but I think I am going to get the dual bevel. Just in case I ever need it.
Unless I am really strapped I try to buy towards what I might need down the road if I can. I am not sure the 716 is that much better than the 706 dual B it replaced.
Buy the single bevel. Then use the 80$ and buy a nice dinner for your wife. just to say thank you. Besides, your shop has enough room and the single bevel cutting will keep you sharp.
Not to further confuse you, but Dewalt has discontinued their 708 slider. a rep told me that he has seen them go for as low as $250 at Hd. Of course this would mean some leg work for you, but It might be worth keeping an eye out.I have one and It is a great saw, one you could never outgrow. Just a thought.
Good luck on that, they have been gone for about a month at HD's is several states I checked. HDT said they might be able to get some if they bought about 20 and decided against it. Even ebay has them closer to $400 and usually refurb.
