My kitchen has a Moen 7400 series faucet. Its been here since I bought the new construction house 4.5 years ago. Its started leaking and I think it has something to do with one or more parts not tightened down. See page #2 of the following Adobe PDF file: http://www.loweslink.com/llmain/pubdocuments/Moen%20Kitchen%20Faucet%207400%20Series%20-%20INS106E.pdf
Parts #6, 9, and 10 came off as a single unit assembly. with parts #7 and 8 being dropped down into the top of part #6. Rotation orientation is important in oder for the faucet handle to be point forwad (toward the spout), and not backward (toward the wall).
The only problem that I am having is that part #9 (white nylon component) seats itself down onto part #20 (brass). I think parts #6, 9, and 10 were originally individual components and allowed for a tight seal. Only problem is that prior to disassembly a gap appeared between the assembly formed from parts 6-10 and part #11 (spout), thus allowing the spout to travel ‘up’ and then leak water.
During disassembly, I noted where every compoent and assembly fit in pecking order to easy reassembly. I did not have the instructions manual, but found the link above (Moen’s website says 7400 is an invalid model number, lol). I first cleaned up and installed the spout assembly, pressing it firmly down onto the deck plate (part #18). I then took the assembly formed by parts #6, 9, and 10 and started threading it onto the valve body (part #20).
The problem is that in assembled form part #9 seats itself too early, which results in an orientation 180º backward. Also, I cannot seem to disassemble the assembly formed by parts #6, 9, and 10, which I think is a must to proper installation. I do not know if parts #6 and 10 are fitted via compression, thread, or something else (interlocking?), but I cannot get them apart is a respectable amount of non-destructive force.
Does anyone know how to disassemble parts #6, 9, and 10? Because of the 180º incorrect orientation, part #8 is not facing the spout, but rather facing away from it.

call moens 800 number, they have a liftime warentee, tell them to send you a new one
caulking is not a piece of trim
Hey Stave, I will call them tomorrow. They weren't open yesterday, nor on nationally recognized holidays. Of course, this begs the question: isn't this a Canadian company?
Anyway, I woke this morning with a renewed vengence and got it all back together. Of course, when all done and tested it was like a comedy scene when I realized I forgot a piece. Doh!
you could try pulling it out and take it to the local big box that carries the brand and see it they'll "trade" it for you - let them deal with Moen - might take some talking to the manager but you could use the keep the customer happy thing - might be easier and quicker than calling Moen
I didn't find my kitchen faucet on Lowes' website, but I think I either found the current revision of mine on HD's website and its the 7430W. This is what it looks like: http://imagex.homedepot.com/f/248/13340/7d/www.homedepot.com/cmc_upload/HDUS/EN_US/asset/images/eplus/026508052907_4.jpg
See how tight those seams are?
"(Moen's website says 7400 is an invalid model number, lol)"
BTW, that is a common problem with lots of companies.
They never made a 7400. That is the base number for that series. As you can see from there instructions there are different handles, and some have sprayers and other don't.
And then there are finishes (chrome, brass, etc).
If you had called asking for parts they would have then asked you for those details.
Actually, had I called them they probably would not have answered since they were closed on Sunday. hahahaha
If it were me, I would save myself a bunch of headaches and plunk down 75 bucks for a new faucet and be done with it instead of fiddling with it for several days with the wife breathing down my neck sayin when is my faucet going to be fixed and still not have it fixed right when finished.
Edit....
As best I can tell from the link you posted it looks like the 58 dollar model at Lowes.

Well, as it turns out Lowes doesn't carry my model. I found it at Home Depot and it is the 7430W:

But, I did fix the faucet yesterday morning--so I saved myself $137.36+Tax.
