I’m considering the use of moisture resistant drywall (greenboard) for the interior of my weekend cottage. Since the cottage will be unheated when I’m not there (I have a Rinnai heater), I’m thinking that moisture resistant drywall might be a good idea for all of my walls and ceilings. However, I’m concerned that most manufacturers warn against using a vapor retarder on the stud side of this type of drwall. Since I’ve used kraft-faced fiberglass insulation, am I going to run into problems?
I think that the real concern is that if this type of drywall were placed between two impermeable surfaces (such as between tile and polyethylene, it would trap moisture and degrade (as would most any other gypsum product). Since I would be using it for general purposes (i.e., walls and ceilings of the living room, bedrooms, etc.), it doesn’t seem as though there should be any issues.
Am I okay in using greenboard for general drywall purposes if I’m placing it over a kraft paper vapor retarder (not barrier)?

I think that is unnecessary overkill. I have dealt with a number of unheated buildings and it isn't moisture that gets you, it's movement because of extreme changes in temperature.
I think mr rock is widely considered a waste anyway. If paint doesn't stop the water paper faced drywall isn't going to help.
One could argue it's overkill and not very moisture resistant but its also mold resistant and for the few bucks more why not.
But isn't the new paperless drywall probably a better choice?

Just got back online. Paperless is my first choice, but availability is pretty limited locally. The only glass-faced that I've found is at Lowe's, and it is only in 8 foot lengths (I'd prefer to use 12'); on the other hand it is on sale for @$9.00 sheet....
Jeff - I wouldn't worry much about kraft, but the smartest thing you can do is to paint the interior with exterior paint - in otherwords treat the interior as an exterior for moisture purposes in terms of finishes.

Yes, go with the green board.
