moisture resistent sheetrock greenboard
Should I use green board or regular sheetrock in a bathroom. I think I have heard some negative things in the past about it, but I can’t remember what it was! I’ve lost some marbles I guess. Thank’s for any advice.

Anywhere moisture is going to be present, such as any bathroom or powder rooms has to get greenboard if it is going to be painted.
spend the few extra pennys and get peace of mind.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
There's your marbles, they were rolling around on the internet.
use mR in the bathroom
The only bad thing is that sometimes it is more likely to sag on ceiling, esp if 1/2"

Tom,
$ for $, I've come to the conclusion you are better off using 5/8" with a couple coats of enamel over it. Benefits include:
!) Can be installed 16" OC vs 12"OC called for with green board on ceilings.
2)It has glass in it, so it's stronger
3)It dampens sound better because it's thicker
4) It's cheaper, (not factoring in labor for painting)
I could go on but......

Just don't use MR drywall as a tile backer in a shower or bath area--it will disintegrate like regular drywall. Use Durock in these areas--MR fine for painted areas.
