Hello folks !
I built an attached garage in the cold north east and only finished three of the four walls with insulation and sheet rock. The overhead door wall is not done and and I have black mold on the inside from the frost that built up over the last few winters due to no insulation. I planned to spray the plywood with a bleach and water mixture. Does anyone know the amount of bleach to water?? Or an better way to kill it before I finish it?? Thanks

There are many things that can kill mold. Killing mold is only part of the solution, you have to physically remove it as well because even dead spores can cause problems. You will have to contain the area then you will need to have/create sufficent negative air (vacumm) in the contained area, remove mold by vacuuming ALL surfaces within the containment with a hepa rated filter then preferably sealed with an antimicrobial sealer. I would suggest Kilzs Premium. I worked for a mold remedition company for 2.5 years so I am not making this up. Hope this helps!
Sounds like I'll be busy for an afternoon. Thanks very much.
10 % bleech, spray it on with a garden sprayer, or alike, rub it off with a coarse brush ..done
.. if your sensitive to the stuff wear a cartridge type respirator .. but if its wet I wouldn't worry ..
thanks very much
I've been sniffing around for mold abatement stuff for a while. I think the method I've seen suggested the most:
Use a detergent (not bleach) to scrub the effected areas. Let dry, and then spray it with a bleach solution to disinfect (let air dry..assuming its dry enough in there to air dry).
But keep in mind, you have to remove the mold-growing-factors if you don't want it to come back.

The experts are moving away from recommending bleach - misused (sprayed) it can more of a health problem than the mold
