How do you keep mold from growing in paint cans?
I found a discussion on using old paint, and I had tried covering the paint with plastic. But, the mold grew anyway.
Is there something I can add on top of the paint, like a little bleach or something else, that would prevent the mold from growing?
And, will there be any problems from using the paint after stirring it up? Will mold begin growing, even after the paint has dried thoroughly?
After painting the walls, it also had a nasty odor that I am hoping goes away after a while.
Thanks for your replies.

It was probably mildew. I would have thrown it out.
latex paint will have a strong odor if it has been frozen. you could add a mildewcide to the paint to keep mold from starting to grow. if it were me i would throw it away once mold had started to grow.
