Am interested in using the mooney wall system, but not really kean on the horizontal strapping (dont want to build out windows/doors, etc etc)
Are the vertical straps needed to keep the insulmesh from bulging too much, or can I get away with just throwing up the insulmesh and blowing cellulose into it. Whats the elmers glue for?
What do building inspectors say when they see a new technique like this/

What you propose eliminates the Mooney.
The horizontal strapping divorces continuous contact and direct transfer of the outside temperature.
Your method will be pretty much a blown celulose job. No problem getting that by the bldg inspector.

That is like buying a wig without the hair.
It is fine - standard cellulose wall insulation.
But it isn't a Mooney wall, which is intended to eliminate thermal bridging and telegraphing cold spots where the framing is.
There are other ways to do the same, with foam panels. But you are still going to have a thicker wall system and need extension jambs
