Think it is a "Bubble" and it will burst sooner or later?
Well, I wouldn't think you could keep up that pace for too long.
I really don't know much about Dubai at all - friend sent me the link and I posted here.
I don't believe it's a bubble. I understand everything is paid for.
Tiger woods is involved in something over there.

I'm pretty sure the building boom will come to an end, the build up is designed to replace oil as their major export product.. the oil is expected to run out relatively soon. They want to become the Monte Carlo of the middle east.
No, I have not seen the program on the building of the islands. That would be interesting. Remember who was running it?

I wonder how they handle wastewater.
They recycle it toward making snow for their indoor ski slope.....Nothing's more slippery than sh!d, you know!
with gloves?
no where.
They are more like us than you think.
Dubai is a small country, I'm not sure where the money is coming from.
I do know that they have a wealth management fund with a lot of money.
OIL Dubai is part of the United Arab Emirates. (UAE) OPEC Member
They can't get your Goat if you don't tell them where it is hidden.
according to Wikppedia less than 7% of their economy is petroleum or natural gas.
Total economy of 37bill.
You are correct ! I was mistaken in where the income is from. My apologies.
They can't get your Goat if you don't tell them where it is hidden.
They, unlike other countries in the region have invested their petro dollars, and diversified their economy, so that they are no longer as petroleum dependant as the other nations in their region.
They have seen oil as an expendable, finite resource from the beginning, and have done a good job of planning for the day when it is gone.
that is what it looks like, even though I believe they have an awful lot of natural gas still on hand.
1.5 TRILLION in their fund.
I would like to see all of the countries in that area build like that. Then, the next time they try a dirty trick like 9/11, we find out which country sponsored the event and turn the tables on them.
In a nutshell, I believe their leaders and their people are much smarter than most others in that part of the country , hence no need for all the hatred and Jihads and what not.
Kinda like when ya read these forums and see the same people bashing our leaders over and over and over again, I generally associate that with ignorance.
I'll be the first to admit that our elected leaders be it reps. or dems. all have shortcomings, but I have more important things in my life to dwell on.
Yea, I have to work a little harder to pay for that $4.16 diesel fuel but at least I'm working, I have a roof over my head and my kids are healthy. Life is good.

I'm glad life is good for you. It is great for me. Sadly, it is not great for far too many people. People bash leaders because they make the decisions that affect our lives. I think a little more leader-bashing couldn't hurt. They really need to do a better job of management. The economy is going down, and I don't see any significant roadblocks being put in place by the leadership.
Our leaders have the best communications and computing power in history. They have the best view of history that has ever been available, and they can use that information to avoid previous mistakes. They unfortunately can't seem to maintain the infrastructure that their predecessors were able to build.
So I would conclude by suggesting that we let the leaders handle the criticism. They are big boys and girls and they get paid quite handsomly.
I didn't mean to hijack this thread (to the Tavern), but I thought that was the direction you were going in with your comments.
