I’m thinking of building a curved stairway and would like information on cutting the mortises for the treads and risers. I have built stairs with straight flights but this will be my first attempt at a curved stair.
I have all of the good stair texts but they all lack detailed description with respect to using a router to cut the mortise. I would like to see photos/sketches of your setups. How do you layout the rise and run on a curved stringer?
As I said, I have built my share of straight flights, can figure the rise/run, rout housed stringer with homemade jig, etc., but never built a curved set. Thanks to all.

Have you been a Breaktimer long? There is a regular, a guy named Stan Foster, that makes his living doing fabulous curved stair work, everything scratch built and done in his shop, and he has posted super photo essays of how he does things. His posts are usually done in the Photo Gallery section.
You can email him privately and ask if he would share some photos and tips for laying out and cutting the mortises.
will do
