MOXON VISE FWW PLANS

Current FWW mag had an article on building a MOXON vise.  What are the recommended types of wood to use?

    I'd probably make it out of soft maple because it's cheap and hard, maybe ash or oak if that's what I had for scraps. Really, any hardwood would do, though you'd probably okay with an acclimated doug fir or similar.
