I know this has been asked before but I seem to have a continuing problem with pin holes in remodel drywall mud jobs I’m a consistant user of taping with Sheetrock topping and finishing with plus-3. These pimples always seem to show up after the painter has started ( or at least hats usually when I find out about them ). Any good advice on the subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! MUD

CH, A little dish soap in the mud may do the trick. I think it breaks the surface tension and eliminates bubbles...
*You talking all over or maybe just over painted area of wall/ceiling you're taping to? Or just on corners where you filled deep, quick? A lot of hole's will be there, you cover em up and then open them on that final sand. They fill will dust and don't appear till priming. Sometimes a real thin skim will take it away. That or nix the plus 3 for a job and see what happens. Never tried dish soap, let us know what works please. Best of luck.
*Calvin Usually just over paint. I've heard about dish soap but seems kinda strange to add bubbles to get rud of bubbles. Oh well I'll try!
*The paint doesn't allow the water out except on the surface. Dat makes the bubbles. If you see em on the first pass, going back over in the opp. direction will open them up. Next coat will fill em up. Should have no problem after that. Best of luck.
*ok guys dont be affraid of compound you can add just about anything to it to get the results you are after.I always carry in the van a large bottle of spring fresh dish soap, and I add it to all the pails I open not only does it make coating easier but it smells great,RIGHT!!!well any ways pock marks are not as much of a problem with this stuff mixed in the bubbles from the soap only show when the third coat pail is thinned out with water and soap, but if you mix it right the bubbles disapere.I sure cant spell as well as I can tape sorry bout that.I learned this trick when i first started taping with the mech.- taping tool set and we never looked back. painters love my finish coat .next get a sander vac not only does it do a beutiful sand job but all the dust gets sucked off the taping job. makes for easy inspection, off all problem areas so you can touch em before the primer goes on hence nice finish ,hence mo money mo money..happy holidays guys and good luck.
*How much dish soap do you add? Do you add it just once to a new bucket, or a little bit with each tray?Barry
*Here's what I do. Open a new bucket. Have on hand the cheapest liquid dish soap you can find. On top of the fresh bucket, pour in enough so ya got about a 1/4 inch deep layer of soap on the top. Now, mix with the drill about 1/2 to 1/3 deep down into the bucket. After you've used about 1/3 of the bucket, squirt just enough to almoast cover the surface. Then mix all the way down to the bottom. After you're down to the last third left, squirt a little more(almost covering surface), and mix completely again. Less would probably do. If ya don't like all the mixing, try cover the surface, and mix at full and half. Compound already had some type of soap compound mixed in it....your just adding a little more. I don't have the bubble problems later, because I don't add water. I'm too slow to make that practical, and it thins it too much for my tastes. The soap doesn't make it dry any faster, but makes it alot more creamy. Too much talking about this! It's only a bucket of compound......go try it! Jeff
