I finally getting around to painting my drywall which was hung/taped/spackled last summer. It is glued and screwed to the wall studs. Since is has been painted I have seen a lot of convex “dimples” where the screw heads are. The drywall is firmly attached to the studs and there is no movement when you press against the wall – so these are not really nail-pops. So here are all the questions:
1. Did these develop as some side-effect of the paint or did we just miss them?
2. What is actually happening – is the mud which is covering the screws expanding to create the dimple?
3. Any ideas on prevention for future projects?
4. Any particular tips on the best way to patch these up?
Thanks for your insight.
