McFeely’s has collated phillips head GUN Screws. seems ya can shoot em outta yer framer and if needed unscrew them.
Sounds cool, but 50$ for 1500 is kinda steep.
Anyone try them yet?

CRX, yeah, I was thinking the same thing, I've been waiting for his test results.
Dissapointed I was when it wasn't.
Besides, they already have them twisted nails you can shoot.
Takes a fair while to screw em out though.
I never tried to unscrew a spiral nail, but I made enough pallets as a teen, that I know they hold real well.
These are screws, with a phillips head, not spiral nails.

Never tried to unscrew a spiral nail...?
The night is still young...Roar!
I'm confused, If you shoot it, then technically its a nail.
and Its only a screw when you unscrew it.
If they come out with a tapcon you can shoot
I'm buying.Gord

If you do shoot and unscrew, can it be screwed in again? Or is it just an unscrew?
Called "UFO BALLISTIC NailScrews"
it appears they "have a blunt tip to prevent splitting"
so going on that, I'd guess without a hole or a hammer whack, they wont self start.
"yellow zinc plated" leads me think subfloor only and No PT contact.
edit: "shoot and unscrew" if I could have done that,I'd not have my daughters...LOL

There is a joke in here somewhere about the unscrews and the uncola.
Holy Sh!t, I thought you were pulling our legs.
There it is plain as day. Screws collated for guns. What will they think of next? ;-)

Hey, did my unevil twin make a post here?
I looked around that website, and I am putting in an inquiry about that pullout tester they used. I did some preliminarys on that test setup we talked about but the results were all over the place. Even in their pullouts you can see differences in up to 30% from one test to another, so I've got some thinking to do make sure we get some meaningful results. I will get to those tests, I've just been finishing up a bunch of projects that have been long overdue.
Nailscrews and ballistic fasteners... pretty interesting idea! Shoot em in as fast as nails, but able to be easily removed like screws. I wonder why they went with a phillips head instead of square drive or at least combo drive?Rebuilding my home in Cypress, CA

Everything old is new again. The first screws were nails that were designed to be removable. Have we come full circle?Bill
Why would you want to unscrew your nails?

That's cheating.
I like cheating. We build all our box gutters with screws, often some fudging or alteration is needed to get proper flow...driving the screws eats up enough battery and the gun would be a heckuva lot faster for the initial install.
I get paid to produce, not mess around charging batteries and climbing down 20' of scaffold for a hot one.
I like the idea.

Well that is just too cool of an idea.
Shooting screws out of a nail gun? That means I can stop driving them with a hammer? <G>

Great minds think alike...wonder if it would work on the faceframe to faceframe? Yikes, wash my mind out with soap for even thinking someone would do that on a cab that I made.
I could see the advantage for subfloors actually, seeing the misses from below instead of hammering up them beside the joists soon to be squeakers, just unscrew them.
They also have an ext handle to attach to the gun, so you can do the floor standing up just like a screw shooter. 99.00$ fits all trigger actuated guns.

You bet I'll be getting some of these... as well as those Hitachi ballistics. I'm very interested in there other properties, like if they are hardened like a screw or soft like a nail.
If I can get some I'll add them to my testing series, both for pullout and for shear plate testing. I doubt they would do well in the second series though, but we will see.Rebuilding my home in Cypress, CA
