I’m looking for a nail gun for Hardy Board and am considering the Hitachi NV65AH. Any opinions on this gun or is there a better one? Thanks.

Just got the Hitachi today! We are starting a Hardi job the middle of next week so if you still want an opinion then I'll let you know.

I have used the Senco 60 series nailer, full round hesad and also the new DeWalt 1845 nailer for Hardi plank. The DeWalt is great because of the depth adjustment. I set the gun light and then drive the nail in the rest of the way with a hammer. Usually the corner doesn't break off, either.
I've tried the Hitachi and wasn't impressed.I bought the Bostich N64C and I'm very happy with gun.
Since I don't have a catalogue in front of me, what type of nailers are you guys talking about?
Thanks, Ken Hill
I use the Quick Drive Pro screw gun. I like it and feel comfortable the Hardi board is secure. However, I do have to take a hammer to some of the screws to set them.
HI, Danny-
AS far as installing FC siding goes, IMHO screws would be overkill and take too much time. Any siding repair/replacement would be a pain in the arse. I can see using screws for any areas needing face(nailing). And very possibly for FC trim (which I've never used).
My own preferred FC installation practice is blind nailing with 1 3/4"- 2" roofing nails, hand banged or carefully shot with a roofing gun.

We did an entire house inside and out with hardiplank using Paslode Powermaster series framing nailers. We set the depth light and things worked just fine. I hope you don't need this tip, but just in case you need to remove a plank or two, drive the nails all the way through by firing an empty gun with the depth set deep. You can usually salvage the board and renail it. If you try to pry or remove the plank any other way you may as well plan on trashing the board.
